ICC Confirms To Bid For Cricket's Inclusion In The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Mumbai, August 10, 2021: Cricket has been waiting to be included in Olympics for more than a century now. And now, the wait could see an end in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as the International Cricket Council (ICC), on Tuesday (August 10), confirmed that it will bid for cricket's inclusion in the games. ## The international cricket body has been making a case for cricket's inclusion in Olympics for a while now and it will also have backing from the richest cricket board BCCI as made clear by Secretary Jay Shah recently. The last time cricket was a part of the Olympics was in 1900, when Great Britain played France. And now, the world's one of the most followed sport, cricket could become a permanent fixture in the games with the ICC hoping to see it included in Brisbane 2032 as well and beyond. ## Earlier, the BCCI was not too keen on cricket's including in the Olympic games as it feared the loss of its autonomy and interference from the Indian Olympic Association (IOC). However, things changed after Jay Shah took charge of the Board. IPL 2021 Set To Resume In United Arab Emirates

Mumbai, May 29, 2021: The Indian Premier League 2021, which was postponed after the first half due to the covid-19, is all set to resume in the United Arab Emirates, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Saturday. ## The decision was taken at a Special General Meeting (SGM) held virtually, considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year. The remaining 31 matches will now be played in UAE, which also had hosted the 2020 IPL behind closed doors. ## The BCCI SGM further authorized the Office Bearers to seek an extension of time from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take an appropriate call on the hosting of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Team India Retain Top Spot In Annual ICC Test Rankings

Mumbai, May 10, 2021: The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has hinted that the Indian team will travel to Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series in the month of July. However, the exact window for this series is yet to be known, but Ganguly said it would consist of three ODIs and three T20Is. ## According to the ICC's Future Tours Programme (FTP), India are scheduled to play three T20Is in Sri Lanka in July. India were also due to play three T20Is and three ODIs in Sri Lanka last June, but that tour was canceled due to the pandemic.## If the Sri Lanka tour happens and the FTP were to be followed, India likely to play with a completely different squad excluding several regular players. During the time of the Sri Lanka tour, the first choice Team India will be in England to play the WTC Final against New Zealand and 5-matches Tests series against England starting on August 4. ## Meanwhile, Ganguly denied the possibility of the remainder of IPL 2021 being played in England on either side of India's Test series there, when asked in an interview with Sportstar. "No", Ganguly said. "India is supposed to go to Sri Lanka for three ODIs and five T20Is. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been promoted to Grade A (INR 5 Cr) from Grade B (INR 3 Cr) in the annual contract list released by BCCI on Thursday (April 15) for the time period of October 2020-September 2021. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday (January 19) announced the India squad for the first two home Tests against England. Captain Virat Kohli, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and fast bowler Ishant Sharma return to the 18-member India squad for the first two Tests which will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. ## Virat Kohli, who had flown back to Mumbai after the first Test against Australia to attend his first child's birth, will be returning to lead the side. 10 Teams IPL Gets Green Signal From BCCI In Annual General Meeting

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved the 10-teams format from the Indian Premier League 2022. The decision of inclusion of two new teams was taken during the board's 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ahmedabad on Thursday (December 24). ## The decision, agreed in principle, will see the tournament expand into a 10-team event starting from the 2022 season. The IPL Governing Council has been asked to work out the details for the process of inclusion of the two new teams and the structure thereafter.## "Two new teams will be introduced in the 2022 IPL", a Board source told PTI.## In another major development, the Board, in principle, decided to back the ICC's bid for the inclusion of cricket, in the T20 format, in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics "after getting some clarifications from the International Olympic Committee".## Also, it was decided that all first-class players, both men and women, will be suitably compensated even if there are any loss of matches due to the covid-19 pandemic. However, final details on the compensation, which was proposed in the meeting, have to be worked out.## The BCCI plans to get the domestic season underway, after several months' delay, in January with the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 championship.## Stay tuned...
