Rajkumar Rao And Bhumi Pednekar's 'Badhaai Do' Cleared To Release In UAE Excluding Sharjah

Mumbai, February 12 - Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer "Badhaai Do" has been cleared to release in the United Arab Emirates, however, it will not be screened in Sharjah. ## "Badhaai Do", which revolves around a lavender wedding of convenience, has been permitted to screen only night shows in the rest of the parts of the UAE apart from Sharjah, for people aged over 21 years. ## The LGBTQ+ theme movies and shows are not acceptable in Middle East countries. Last year, Marvel Studios' "Eternals", directed by Chloe Zhao, was banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Jordan, because of the refusal of its makers to delete certain gay-themed scenes. The UAE, however, had allowed the film's release. ## Although 'Badhaai Do' has no obvious expressions of same-sex love, as in the case of the 'Eternals' characters Ben and Phastos kissing each other, it clearly has an LGBTQ+ theme, which is not acceptable in the Middle East.## In an interview with PTI, "Badhaai Do" director Hashvardhan Kulkarni said that the film is an attempt to normalize the discourse around the queer community and break certain stereotypes attached with their representation in cinema.## Produced by Junglee Pictures, "Badhaai Do", which is the sequel to 2018's "Badhaai Ho", released theatrically on February 11.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, Jan 17 (IANS) Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, who essays the role of Thena in Chloe Zhao's superhero film 'Eternals', describes her character as someone who is not very comfortable during peacetime and this trait emanates from the moral injury of the character.## Due to her special ability to manipulate cosmic energy to augment her life force which grants her virtual invulnerability and immortality, Thena is known for being a social misfit. Commenting on this, Angelina says, "Thena is like a soldier who is affected by the memories of battle and has PTSD or moral injury to living with. Thena just assumes that a fight's coming at her rather than care and kindness".## Talking about the complexities of her character, Angelina says, "So she's quite wired, and a lot of her struggle is just holding on to her mind and her center and her peace. I understand her, and how she feels".## She further adds, "Thena is not comfortable in peacetime. She doesn't know how to exist as a civilian or as a lover or as a friend, but she does know war. She knows who she is in combat. But she doesn't know how to go to a party or socialize. Mumbai, Jan 12 (IANS) The vision of 'Eternals' helmer Chloe Zhao was to blur the lines between reality and fiction in the film, and to achieve this, she used the film's cinematography to her strength.## The cinematography involved shooting at the location with wide-angle lenses.## Elaborating on how the camera was used to explore the world around the Eternals, director Zhao said, "While shooting for 'Eternals', my main focus was to blur the line between reality and fiction. We shot mainly on location. We used wide-angle spherical lenses and deep focus in order to explore the relationship between the characters and the world they live in".## She added, "When you watch Sersi walking through a village in ancient Babylon, it's no different than watching a fern walking through a present-day nomadic camp in 'Nomadland'. The movements of the camera and the wide-angle lenses left the audience with a scope of imagination to explore the world within the frames and to make discoveries themselves".## "The visual experience of this film must feel immersive and interactive enough for audiences to believe that these characters have walked the Earth for 7,000 years.
