Deepika Padukone To Receive A Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame; First Indian Citizen To Get The Honour

Mumbai, July 3 - In a historic recognition, star Indian actress Deepika Padukone is set to be honoured with a Star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, Class of 2026. The announcement was made on Wednesday evening via a livestream by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's selection panel. ## Padukone joins an illustrious list of 35 honourees this year, which includes acclaimed Hollywood names such as Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Demi Moore, among others. ## While Deepika becomes the first Indian citizen to receive this honour, she is not the first person of Indian origin. The late Sabu Dastagir, born in Mysore in 1924, was the first Indian to be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Discovered by director Robert Flaherty, Sabu rose to fame with the 1937 film Elephant Boy, and after taking American citizenship in 1944, he went on to star in many successful Hollywood productions. ## Deepika Padukone's induction marks a major milestone in her international career, further cementing her status as a global ambassador for Indian cinema. Mumbai, August 2 - Blockbuster Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" has crossed the 100 crores net mark at the Indian box office, becoming the first movie of the director to achieve the feat in the country.## "Oppenheimer" tops the 100 crores net mark on its 13th day (2nd Wednesday) in both the versions - English and Hindi. The original English version has contributed approx. 90% of the total collection while the Hindi version has done the remaining. It didn't release in other languages.## Based on the life of American theoretical physicist and polymath J. Robert Oppenheimer, "Oppenheimer" is the 3rd Hollywood movie of the year after "Fast X" and "Mission Impossible 7" while it is the 13th Hollywood movie ever to reach the century mark at the Indian box office.## Check out day-wise collection of the movie here## "Oppenheimer" has done exceptionally well in the IMAX and has grossed approx. 23 crores so far which is around 20% of the total collection. Los Angeles, July 18 - The Hollywood trade is buzzing for the epic clash between two of the most-awaited movies, Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" and Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" which are scheduled to take on each other on July 21. ## The stakes are high for both the aforementioned films and the anticipation is skyrocketing as the release date is getting nearer. Both the movies, completely opposite to each other, are expected to be box office heavyweights and the latest projections indicate the same. ## There has been a significant improvement in "Barbie" as well as "Oppenheimer's" box office projections after the recently concluded premieres where both the movies received rousing receptions from critics. As per the latest projections, the Margot Robbie-starrer "Barbie" is tracking to score $110 million in its domestic (North America) opening weekend. ## "Barbie" was previously projected to score between $70 million and $80 million in the opening weekend, but now, the trade is anticipating it to go much higher.
