Top 5 Indian Films With Longest Theatrical Runtime: Dhurandhar 2 Joins The Rank

Mumbai, March 12 - Indian cinema has often pushed the boundaries of storytelling with ambitious runtimes, especially when it comes to epic dramas and large-scale productions. Over the decades, several films have crossed the three-hour mark, but only a handful have gone far beyond that to become some of the longest theatrical releases in Indian film history. Over the last few years, several Indian films have crossed 3 hours of runtime, and a couple of them even went on to rank among the longest films ever. The upcoming sequel Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has reportedly joined this rare list with its massive runtime of nearly 4 hours, which is almost unheard of for an Indian title in recent times. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 1. LOC: Kargil (2003) J. P. Dutta's epic historical war film, based on the Kargil War, is the longest Indian film with a theatrical runtime of 4 hours and 15 minutes (255 minutes). Released in December 2023, the film featured a massive ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, and Sunil Shetty, among others. 2. Mera Naam Joker (1970) Directed and headlined by Raj Kapoor, the epic romantic drama film has gained a cult status over the years despite being a theatrical flop. It remained the longest Indian theatrical title for over 3 decades, with 4 hours and 8 minutes (248 minutes). The movie also starred Simi Garewal, Kseniya Ryabinkina, Padmini, Manoj Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Dharmendra, and Dara Singh. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 3. Sangam (1964) One of the first films to be shot abroad in locations including London, Paris and Switzerland, Sangam is a romantic musical drama, directed and headlined by Raj Kapoor. With a theatrical runtime of 3 hours and 58 minutes (238 minutes), it was the longest film before Kapoor's Mera Naam Joker. It also featured Vyjayanthimala and Rajendra Kumar. 4. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge (2026) Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar 2 is the second part of the massive blockbuster Dhurandhar, which was released in December last year. Scheduled to hit the big screens on March 19, The Revenge reportedly carries a theatrical runtime of 3 hours and 49 minutes (229 minutes), which is mindboggling to think in today's time. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 5. Lagaan (2001) The Aamir Khan-fronted period sports drama had a runtime of 3 hours and 44 minutes (224 minutes). Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film also featured Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne in key roles. It was reportedly the costliest Indian film at the time of its release. Toxic: Yash Locks A Massive Deal; 50 Crore Salary Plus 60 percent Profit Share For Geetu Mohandas Directorial

After a hiatus of nearly four years since the record-breaking success of KGF: Chapter 2, Rocking Star Yash is all set to return to the big screen with his most ambitious project yet, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. While the film's gritty teaser has already set social media ablaze, it is the superstar's unprecedented financial deal that is now the talk of the trade circles. According to the latest industry buzz, Yash has locked a sophisticated deal with KVN Productions that reflects his massive pan-India pull.Reports indicate that the actor is charging a flat remuneration of ₹50 Crore. However, the real blockbuster element of the contract is the profit-sharing clause. Yash is reportedly set to take home 60% of the net profits after the makers recover their initial investment.Given the high demand for the film's digital, satellite, and music rights, trade analysts suggest that Yash could potentially earn upwards of ₹150 Crore from this single project, making him one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema history. Despite minor production delays and a reported budget hike (estimated between ₹300 Cr to ₹600 Cr), Toxic is positioned to be a safe bet for its producers. The pre-release business—driven by the craze for Yash 19—hints that the film might enter the profit zone even before it hits the theaters. The non-theatrical rights, including a major music partnership with Zee Music Co., are commanding premium valuations. Distribution rights for various territories are also being sought after at record-breaking prices. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Directed by National Award-winner Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is envisioned as a gritty period gangster drama that offers a unique fairy tale for grown-ups with a dark, violent twist. The film features a powerhouse ensemble led by Rocking Star Yash, who is set to showcase his versatility in a dual role as Raya. The supporting lineup is equally formidable, featuring Akshay Oberoi as Tony, Sudev Nair as Karmadi, and Balaji Manohar as Bheera. Complementing the high-octane visuals is a multi-composer soundtrack helmed by industry heavyweights Ravi Basrur, Vishal Mishra, and Tanishk Bagchi, promising a diverse and cinematic musical experience. Toxic is scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with major festivals like Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid-al-Fitr.The film is set for a high-profile clash at the box office with Ranveer Singh's spy-thriller sequel, Dhurandhar 2, making it one of the most anticipated cinematic battles of the year. In his statement, Pandey emphasised that the narrative focuses solely on an individual's actions and choices. He reiterated that, as a filmmaker, he approaches storytelling with a strong sense of responsibility and aims to create content that is both thoughtful and respectful, adding that the film has been made with sincere intent purely to entertain audiences.
