According to the latest reports as of January 2026, the studio has found its lead pair in Siddhant Chaturvedi and rising star Pratibha Ranta. The project, which had been on the backburner since 2019, has been revitalized following the recent success of the leads in their respective projects. Dharma Productions is reportedly betting big on this fresh pairing. Siddhant Chaturvedi, who recently delivered a power-packed performance in Dhadak 2 (2025), is said to bring the required intensity to the role originally played by Vijay Deverakonda. Joining him is Pratibha Ranta, the breakout star of Laapataa Ladies (2024). Mumbai, September 23 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has been picked as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025, the Film Federation of India announced on Monday. ## The comedy-drama film, directed by Kiran Rao, tells the story of two young newly-wed brides who get exchanged during a train ride to their husband's homes. It stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan, in key roles.## Laapataa Ladies was released on March 1st this year amid positive critical reception. The movie did decently at the box office, grossing approximately 27.50 crores worldwide before emerging as a big success on streaming with over 17 million views.## The 13-member select committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided on Laapataa Ladies as India's Oscars 2025 entry.
