Deepika Padukone To Receive A Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame; First Indian Citizen To Get The Honour

Mumbai, July 3 - In a historic recognition, star Indian actress Deepika Padukone is set to be honoured with a Star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, Class of 2026. The announcement was made on Wednesday evening via a livestream by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's selection panel. ## Padukone joins an illustrious list of 35 honourees this year, which includes acclaimed Hollywood names such as Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Demi Moore, among others. ## While Deepika becomes the first Indian citizen to receive this honour, she is not the first person of Indian origin. The late Sabu Dastagir, born in Mysore in 1924, was the first Indian to be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Discovered by director Robert Flaherty, Sabu rose to fame with the 1937 film Elephant Boy, and after taking American citizenship in 1944, he went on to star in many successful Hollywood productions. ## Deepika Padukone's induction marks a major milestone in her international career, further cementing her status as a global ambassador for Indian cinema. Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Becomes Biggest Grosser of 2022 Worldwide

Mumbai, May 23 - Marvel Studios has once again claimed the top position at the box office as "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness" has become the highest-grossing movie of 2022 at the worldwide box office. ## The superhero movie, directed by Sam Raimi, has crossed the $800 million global mark, which includes $342.1 million from domestic (North America) and $461.1 million from the international box office, for a total $803.2 million through 3rd weekend. The numbers become even more strong knowing the fact that the movie hasn't been released in China and Russia, two of the biggest movie markets. ## Among 28 Marvel Cinematic Universe films (and excluding China and Russia), "Doctor Strange 2" lands at No. 11 so far on a global basis. It is currently the only film of 2022 to top $800 million, and the second-highest-grossing Hollywood title during the covid-19 pandemic, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($1.89 billion). Warner Bros' "The Batman" is the second-biggest movie of 2022 worldwide with $768 million. ## Among the top international markets, Korea remains the top contributor with $45.9M, followed by the UK ($43.8M), Mexico ($35.7M), Brazil ($29.2M), and Australia ($23M). Mumbai, May 13 - Marvel is the biggest non-domestic movie brand in India and it has been proved once again with the studios' latest superhero flick, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness". ## Directed by the maverick Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has crossed the prestigious 100 crores net mark at the Indian box office and becomes the second non-domestic film in 5 months to reach the figure. Earlier, Marvel/Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" did it with ease and went on to score over 260 crores gross. ## The sequel to 2016's movie has broken into the 100 crores net club in the first week itself with Rs. 104 crores for all languages. Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Advance Booking Status And Opening Day Prediction In India

Mumbai, May 5 - Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was one of the first films to bring the Indian box office on its strong feet with big box office numbers in December last year. And now, another Marvel movie with Disney, "Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness" is ready to roar in India. ## Directed by Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has been one of the most-awaited non-Indian movies and the advance booking for the same was opened nearly a month before its release on May 6 in multiple languages. As expected, the superhero movie is getting a phenomenal response in the advance sales as it has already reached 28 crores gross. ## The original English version of the movie is leading the advance sales with approx. 19.70 crores gross, including all formats, followed by the Hindi version with approx. 7 crores gross. The Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada versions have scored approx. 1.30 crore in advance sales. ## The advance booking of the "Doctor Strange" sequel is very much in line with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" which scored 22.50 crores gross in advances for the first day, mostly with 50% occupancy.
