Box Office: 'Baby John' Opening Day And 'Pushpa 2' 21st Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, December 25 - Varun Dhawan's mass action entertainer Baby John is the last big Bollywood release of 2024 and it has taken a decent opening at the box office with double-digit numbers. ## The opening of Baby John got a push due to the Christmas holiday, however, at the same time, it was affected by strong holdovers like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa as early estimates suggest a 12-12.50 crore net opening for Varun Dhawan-starrer.## The film opened on the projected lines, however, being a mass movie and a holiday release, Baby John was expected to open much higher which didn't happen. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed which might not be enough given the strong competition it has. ## Allu Arjun's mega-blockbuster Pushpa 2 - The Rule once again remained the first choice in Hindi despite being in its third week and against a direct new Bollywood film. It is running riot at the moment with no sign of slowing down anytime soon. ## On its 3rd Wednesday (21st day), Pushpa 2 scored an estimated 14-16 crores net collection in Hindi, jumping around 30% from Tuesday which is sensational. With this, the total collection of the film has reached 715+ crores net in the dubbed version and the 800 crores net club looks well within the reach that is no less than a dream. ## Meanwhile, another film of the day is Kichcha Sudeep's action thriller Max which has taken the biggest opening of 2024 for a Kannada movie. Mumbai, December 24 - After stealing hearts with romantic and comedy entertainers, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of his first full-fledged actioner in the form of Baby John which is slated to hit the screens on December 25 on the occasion of Christmas. ## The film, directed by Tamil director Kalees, was easily one of the most anticipated Bollywood movies sometime back but the buzz has dipped for the last few weeks in the euphoria of Pushpa 2 - The Rule which is going great gun at the box office in Hindi. ## The advance booking of Baby John hasn't been on the expected lines but it has still managed to score a decent response with over 100K tickets sold for the opening day. As of 8 PM on December 24, the pre-sales gross for the opening is approximately 3.75 crores (including block seats) and the final advance sales heads for 4.50-5 crores gross. ## The pre-sales trend indicates the film's opening in the range of 10 crores gross, however, the Christmas holiday is expected to boost spot booking which can push the opening into the range of 13-15 crores. Pushpa 2 is the real challenge as it is dominating the mass pockets which is something Baby John also eyeing. There is also Hollywood Mufasa: The Lion King which has good pre-sales for December 25 in North belt. ## If there weren't the other two movies, Baby John could have easily aimed for a much higher opening as buzz for the movie was there to cash in the opportunity. At this point, an opening in the range of 13-15 crores looks more likely. Mumbai, December 16 - The next big Bollywood release is Varun Dhawan-fronted action thriller Baby John which is scheduled to hit the big screens on December 25, on the occasion of Christmas. Directed by Kalees, the film carries a decent buzz and should take a good start at the box office. ## Meanwhile, ahead of the film's release, the makers have completed censorship formatlies. It is learned that Baby John has been certified with 'U/A' for 16+ by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes (164 minutes). ## The movie is certified for people above 16 years of age due to some violent scenes. It is the second age-restricted movie of Varun Dhawan after Badlapur which was rated A by CBFC.
