Mani Ratnam's Blockbuster 'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2' Crosses 300 Crores At The Worldwide Box Office

Chennai, May 10 - Blockbuster filmmaker Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 has crossed the 300 crores mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first Tamil and the second Indian movie of the year to reach the milestone. ## The second of two cinematic parts based on the 1954 novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy reached the triple-century mark on its 11th day, 5 days more than the first part last year. "PS-2" has underperformed compared to the first part but it still has done well enough to be called a successful venture.## The total worldwide collection of "PS-2" is around 304 crores worldwide in 12 days, including 187 crores domestically and around 117 crores overseas. The first had grossed around 490 crores in its lifetime run, including 315 crores domestically and 175 crores overseas.## "PS-2" has done well at the Tamil Nadu box office with around 114 crores gross, becoming the third film of the year after "Varisu" and "Thunivu" to breach the 100 crores mark in the state. The movie will beat "Thunivu" (121 crore) to become the second-biggest movie in the state and then, it will be interesting to see if it can go past "Varisu" (141 crore). ## Are wise gross collection of PS-II after 12 days (approx.) - ## Tamil Nadu - 114 Cr## Karnataka - 20.30 Cr## AP/TG - 14.80 Cr## Kerala - 15.90 Cr## Rest of India - 21.50 Cr## Overseas - 117 Cr## Language-wise Net collection - ## Tamil - 123.15 Cr## Hindi - 14.40 Cr## Telugu - 12.40 Cr## Malayalam - 8.00 Cr## Kannada - 0.30 Cr## Stay tuned...

'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2' Crosses 100 Crores Gross At The Tamil Nadu Box Office

Chennai, May 7 - Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is continuing with its strong performance at the domestic as well as overseas box office. ## The second and final part of "Ponniyin Selvan" is nearing 300 crores, currently stands at around 282 crores in 9 days, at the worldwide box office, and is likely to reach there by today or tomorrow. The first part, which was released in September last year, grossed close to 500 crores worldwide and the second part is also turning out to be a big money spinner. ## Meanwhile, "PS-2" has crossed 100 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu, becoming the 3rd film of the year to do so after Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu". Mani Ratnam's directorial reached the 100 crores mark on its 9th day and currently stands at a little over 102 crores. ## "PS-1" had taken just 5 days to breach the 100 crores gross mark and went on to gross over 200 crores in Tamil Nadu. It is the only film in the history of Indian cinema to breach the double-century mark in the state. It looks unlikely for "PS-2" to reach even near to the first film but even the 150 crores mark would be satisfactory. ## Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, "PS-2" stars an ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, R. Sarathkumar, Jayaram, Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R. Parthiban.## Stay tuned...

Ponniyin Selvan 2 Crosses 100 Crores In India and 200 Crores Worldwide

Chennai, May 1 - Mani Ratnam's period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is having another excellent day at the domestic box office with an estimated 25+ crores gross collection in all versions on the card. ## In the 3-day opening weekend, "PS-2" grossed a solid around 173 crores worldwide, including approx. 95 crores domestically. With today's collection, it has crossed the 100 crore gross as well as net mark in India and 200 crore gross worldwide, becoming the 3rd Tamil movie of the year to do so.## "PS-2" has taken 4 days to hit a double century at the worldwide box office while the first part "PS-1", which was released in September last year, took 3 days to get there. The 4-day total of "PS-2" should be around 210 crores (120 crores domestic+90 crores overseas) which was the first three days of collection of "PS-1". ## Despite taking one extra day than its predecessor, "PS-2" is very much on track to breach 400 crores worldwide gross, and with better reviews than "PS-1", it also has a chance to get near to the first part which grossed around 490 crores in its lifetime run. ## "PS-2" wasn't a hugely hyped second part of a movie unlike "Baahubali 2", "KGF 2", and the upcoming "Pushpa 2". The movie has the only support of being the second part of a highly successful first part but it is purely performing on its own merit. ## Stay tuned...
